Studio & Workshop Guidelines
To maintain the serenity of everyone’s yoga experience, Yoga Manila asks you to observe the following studio guidelines:
- Please arrive a few minutes before the appointed class time, as joining in late is disruptive to your fellow-practitioners.
- Be sure to sign in before class; if it’s your first time at the studio, please fill up a registration form.
- Take off your shoes before entering the studio, and shed all jewelry, including your watch, before class.
- Practice on an empty stomach. Give yourself at least two hours to digest your last meal, but please do come to class well-hydrated.
- Alert your teacher to any injuries or health issues (e.g., pregnancy) before class begins.
- Turn off your cell phone or put it on silent mode. If you forget to do so and it rings during class, please turn it off immediately.
- Please refrain from doing inversions if you’re menstruating.
- Prepare to sweat; bring a towel.
- Bring your own mat if you have one.
- Avoid chatting and making loud noises inside the studio, particularly when others are practicing or preparing to practice. Be especially mindful of your voices and movements when others are in savasana.
Traditionally, Ashtanga is not practiced on new-moon and full-moon days. Because some of our Ashtanga teachers feel strongly about following this tradition and others do not, we do hold class on moon days; however, the teacher may choose to give a modified class.
